YOUR LOCAL STARTING POINT

Start with the shape of your Cheshire wedding.

Before comparing flowers or favours, agree your guest range, spending limit and the parts of the day that matter most. A single-venue wedding and a church-to-reception wedding need different travel and timing plans. Your checklist should reflect the day you are actually having.

Compare Cheshire wedding venues on the same basis

A barn, hotel and country house may present their packages differently. Ask each venue for a written quote using the same wedding date, day guests and evening guests. Check what is included for catering, furniture, staffing, setup and clearing away. Keep the quotes with your supplier notes so an attractive starting price does not become your entire budget.

Ask about exclusive use, other events on the date, the wet-weather ceremony and photograph spaces, and where your guests can stay. Confirm the arrangements with the venue before committing.

Build travel into the day, not into the gaps

For preparations in Wilmslow, a ceremony near Knutsford and a reception elsewhere in Cheshire, write down every address and each journey separately. Include loading, parking and getting people from the car to the ceremony. Check your route for the day and time you expect to travel; the planner uses your estimates rather than live traffic.

If guests are staying around Chester, Macclesfield or Nantwich, agree the return transport as well as the outward journey. Add a named person to confirm taxis or coach details, rather than leaving it as a note everybody assumes someone else has handled.

Give photographs a realistic place in the schedule

List the family groups that matter, including separate-parent combinations where useful. Share the list with your photographer and agree an order. A location for portraits, an indoor backup and somebody who knows the family can make the time easier to manage.

Use Test our day to explore a later ceremony start or extra photo time. The rehearsal shows the effect on your entered plan; your venue and suppliers still need to agree any changes.

A CHECKLIST YOU CAN ACTUALLY USE

Cheshire wedding checklist

Use these stages as a starting point, then add the jobs and dates from your own venue and supplier agreements. You can start the planner before every detail is decided.

01

Before choosing a venue

Set a comfortable budget, an initial guest range and a preferred season. Decide whether the ceremony and reception will be in the same place.

02

When you are ready to book

Confirm the date and ceremony arrangements directly. Record the venue booking, supplier contact details, deposit and remaining instalments.

03

As the guest list takes shape

Send your personal RSVP links, record each reply and meal choice, and add the venue’s guest-number and meal deadlines to your calendar.

04

During the final weeks

Confirm travel, final balances, photograph groups, arrival times and table assignments. Review your Wedding Day Hub and share the relevant day packs.

A Cheshire ceremony-to-reception timing example

Imagine a 1pm ceremony with a separate reception. Instead of placing the wedding breakfast immediately after the ceremony, work backwards from the venue’s agreed seating time. Allow for congratulations, the confirmed drive, arrival drinks and photographs. Enter those real allowances into your day plan, then test what happens if a preparation runs 20 minutes late.

This is a planning example, not a recommended schedule for every venue. Ask your photographer and venue to help you agree the actual timings.

BUDGETS, DEPOSITS & FINAL BALANCES

Your Cheshire wedding budget: separate booked costs from estimates.

Create a supplier entry for each confirmed booking, then add the payment dates from its contract. Record deposits and partial payments as they happen. Keep an unconfirmed cake or transport quote as an estimate rather than treating it as a settled cost.

Example only: a £1,500 photography booking with £300 recorded paid leaves £1,200 outstanding. If you pay a further £200, record £500 paid in total against that instalment where appropriate. The planner tracks your records; it does not move money or confirm a supplier’s receipt.

Booked

Keep a confirmed price with the supplier it belongs to.

Paid & outstanding

Record what you have paid and see the balance still to arrange.

Questions about planning in Cheshire.

Is this a Cheshire wedding planner or a planning app?

This is a practical Cheshire wedding planning guide and an online app for organising your own plans. Ivory Digital does not provide an in-person wedding coordinator or book venues and suppliers on your behalf.

Can we use the app for a church ceremony and a separate reception?

Yes. Add your preparation locations, ceremony, reception and travel estimates to the day plan. Confirm ceremony arrangements and transport directly, then use Test our day to explore the effect of delays.

Can we track deposits and final wedding balances?

Yes. Keep supplier bookings, deposits, instalments, partial payments and outstanding amounts together. The amounts marked paid are your records rather than confirmation from a supplier.

Do we need to book Weddings By Mark to use it?

No. Couples can start a 14-day free trial and continue for an introductory £25 one-off payment. The planner is included at no extra charge with Weddings By Mark all-day wedding packages.

Can we organise guests and table choices in one place?

Yes. The planner brings individual guest details and RSVPs together with meal choices and visual table planning. Confirm final guest and meal deadlines with your venue.

Check the ceremony details with the right council.

For a Cheshire East ceremony, start with the council’s current marriage and civil partnership guidance. For a ceremony elsewhere in Cheshire, use the registration service responsible for that venue. Your place of residence and ceremony location can involve different arrangements, so confirm the steps directly.
