YOUR LOCAL STARTING POINT

Start with your ceremony, reception and guest journey.

Whether your plans centre on Manchester, Salford, Stockport, Trafford, Bolton, Bury, Wigan, Oldham, Rochdale or Tameside, make a simple outline before filling the calendar. Where is each partner getting ready, where will guests arrive, and how does everybody get to the next part of the day?

Plan the Manchester ceremony-to-reception transfer

A short distance on a map is only part of the journey. Add time for leaving the ceremony, photographs outside, collecting belongings, finding the vehicle and parking at the reception. Confirm drop-off points, access arrangements and any restrictions directly with your venues.

For a city-centre ceremony followed by a reception elsewhere in Greater Manchester, give guests one clear set of instructions. Put the correct entrances, arrival times and transport details on your wedding website, then check the wording before you share it.

Keep the two preparation plans separate

Getting ready in different homes or hotels creates two journeys into the same ceremony time. Record a ready time, loading allowance and travel estimate for each partner. Agree who carries important items and who is travelling with each group.

If one preparation runs late, the effect might be different for each partner. Try that situation with the rehearsal sliders, then discuss the result with the people involved. The app cannot move a booked ceremony or make a supplier stay longer.

Make your Manchester wedding guest list usable

Record every person individually, even when invitations go out by household. Keep day and evening invitations clear so numbers and meal planning remain meaningful. Ask guests to use their personal RSVP link and check outstanding replies before the venue’s deadline.

Add hotel information, transport plans and contact instructions to your wedding website. Keep a named wedding-day helper for questions so both partners are not trying to answer every travel message during preparations.

A CHECKLIST YOU CAN ACTUALLY USE

Greater Manchester wedding checklist

Use these stages as a starting point, then add the jobs and dates from your own venue and supplier agreements. You can start the planner before every detail is decided.

01

First decisions

Agree the guest range, budget and type of celebration. Decide whether you want one venue or separate ceremony and reception locations.

02

Once the date is confirmed

Add each booked supplier and payment schedule. Put ceremony appointments, fittings and menu tastings in the calendar.

03

Before the guest deadline

Review individual replies and meal choices, then plan your tables. Follow up missing replies while there is still time to make decisions.

04

Before the wedding day

Confirm both preparation journeys, supplier arrivals and family photographs. Give helpers their jobs and share the appropriate Wedding Day Hub links.

A city wedding timing check that takes minutes

Suppose one partner is ready at 12.15pm for a 1pm ceremony. A 15-minute loading allowance and a 15-minute journey give an estimated arrival of 12.45pm. A 20-minute preparation delay would move that estimate to 1.05pm. Testing it early gives you something specific to discuss, instead of discovering the problem on the day.

These are fictional timings. Travel estimates are entered by you and do not include live traffic. Confirm any required arrival time with your ceremony team.

BUDGETS, DEPOSITS & FINAL BALANCES

A Manchester wedding budget that follows your actual bookings.

Use one shared record for venue costs, photography, video, outfits, flowers, transport and anything else you book. Give every known instalment its own due date. A payment reminder is much more useful when it is connected to the right supplier and amount.

For a split-location wedding, check whether transport, additional travel, parking or extra venue time needs its own line in your plan. Ask suppliers to clarify what their quote covers. Avoid building your spending limit around a headline venue price without the rest of the day.

Booked

Keep a confirmed price with the supplier it belongs to.

Paid & outstanding

Record what you have paid and see the balance still to arrange.

Questions about planning in Greater Manchester.

Can this help with a Manchester city wedding and a reception outside the centre?

Yes. Keep the ceremony and reception locations separate in your day plan, enter your travel allowances and share the agreed guest instructions through your wedding website. Check routes and access directly before the day.

Can both partners use the wedding checklist?

Yes. Both partners can use separate sign-ins to work on the same wedding plan. Assign jobs and deadlines so it is clear what each of you is handling.

Does the rehearsal use live Manchester traffic?

No. Test our day works from the travel times and allowances you enter. Use current route information and supplier advice when deciding those allowances.

Can we have a wedding website and collect RSVPs?

Yes. Share your wedding information through your own wedding website and collect replies using personal invitation links. Individual replies stay with your guest records.

How much is the wedding planning app?

Start with a 14-day free trial. Introductory paid access is £25 once if you continue, with no automatic paid subscription. Access is included with Weddings By Mark all-day wedding packages.

Use the council responsible for your ceremony venue.

Manchester City Council publishes information about its register-office ceremonies and approved venues. Other Greater Manchester boroughs have their own registration services. Check the guidance for the actual ceremony location and confirm your arrangements directly.
